02Requirements

What youneed to start.

  • 21 or older
  • Licensed for the past 3 continuous years
  • A satisfactory driving record
  • CORI and SORI background checks
  • Medical and vision exam

03Your path to a 7D certificate

We walk youthrough it.

  1. 01

    Pre-screen

    21+, licensed for the past 3 continuous years, satisfactory record.

  2. 02

    Record and references

    We request your driving record, authorizations and references.

  3. 03

    CORI and SORI

    Background checks, kept under restricted access.

  4. 04

    Medical and vision

    A standard exam for school pupil transport drivers.

  5. 05

    2-hour pre-service training

    Provided by Drive Mass Now for first-time applicants.

  6. 06

    Written exam

    Study the 7D and Massachusetts driver manuals, then pass the exam.

  7. 07

    RMV application

    Submitted online through myRMV with your medical, CORI and training.

  8. 08

    Certificate issued

    We verify the certificate number and expiry date.

  9. 09

    Road evaluation

    An internal on-road check, plus insurance and district approval.
